About Me

I have been solving twisty puzzles such as the Rubik’s cube since I was in grade school. My site is even named partly after the ZZ method, a 3x3x3 speedsolving method.

In 2010, I got bored of twisty puzzles only having three dimensions, so I solved the four-dimensional 3x3x3x3 and the five-dimensional 3x3x3x3x3. I am also the only one who has solved the massive four-dimensional 120-cell twice: once in 2014, and again in 2024. I might also be the only one who thinks that solving the 120-cell twice was an excellent use of time.

In 2015, I attended the University of Waterloo to study computer science. There, I studied hard and trained at six internships including NVIDIA and Snowflake, but I also learned to juggle and would often juggle in the hallway before lectures.

In 2020, I graduated with a BMath (CS) and moved to the United States to work as a software engineer with the VS Code team at Microsoft. By now, I have contributed to multiple parts of the product and have even tried my hand at Electron development, but one of my favourite things to work on is reviving neglected pipelines; seeing the checkmark when a build finally succeeds makes my day.

Besides work, I am into birding, juggling, transit-oriented development, and tea.
