Astronomy
- Daff Moon is an Android app that provides one with information on the sun, moon, planets, and Pluto. I used it to help spot all five naked eye planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn) in 2020. Highly recommend.
- Sunrise and Sunset Calculator is fairly self-explanatory, but it also gives the times for civil twilight, nautical twilight, astronomical twilight, as well as solar noon!
Natural Languages
- Pleco is an amazing Chinese-English dictionary phone app that I’d recommend to anyone learning Mandarin or Cantonese.
Rubik’s Cubes and Geometry
- MagicCube4D provides some nice 4D twisty puzzles for whenever 3D twisty puzzles aren’t enough.
- Roice Nelson created several cubing applications such as this set of 5D Rubik’s cubes, a fully-functional 4D megaminx with 2520 cubies, and a massive collection of non-Euclidean puzzles. He then wrote a paper with Henry Segerman on visualizing hyperbolic honeycombs!
- 4D Euclidean Space dissects 4D shapes layer by layer so you can see how they’re all constructed.
